AEK Athens FC has completed the long-before predicted transfer of Masoud Souleiman Shojaei. The Iranian attacking midfielder was obtained by the “yellow-blacks” in the form of 6-month loan from Panionios, club from Nea Smirni neighbourhood. Shojaei will wear the number 24 shirt, because AEK and the fans have been waiting for 24 seasons for the club to win a Greek Super League title. The player’s loan has a one-year renewal option. Learning that he would be replacing the injured captain Petros Mantalos until the end of the season, he stated:I feel a big deal of responsibility to replace Mantalos because he is a great player. I will try for the best and hope to help the team. I want to wish a speedy recovery to Mantalos and, of course, I hope that we soon play together. Ending his statements, he declared, about the battle of the Greek Super League:I have no knowledge of the key to the championship in the team, because I was always the opponent of this team. I can only say that title-winning teams have a united and concrete total of players. I want to enter this total and help AEK win the championship after 24 years, this is why I chose this number
